Attention developers or business entrepreneurs! The RFP for 321 Main St. in Slater has been released! Deadline is Feb. 14.

Slater, Iowa - The City of Slater is announcing that a Request For Proposal has been released seeking a developer or business entrepreneur for the redevelopment of the city owned 321 Main Street building located in the heart of the historic Slater Main Street business district. The city is looking to establish this property as a cornerstone private/public partnership redevelopment with a high focus on creating a new food and dining experience in the heart of Slater’s downtown core, however the city is open to all quality project proposals.

Prime Location Benefits:

  • Property has easy access to the both the Heart of Iowa Trail and the High Trestle Trail.
  • Slater’s location in Story County halfway between Ames and Ankeny also connects to the ever-increasing daily street traffic.
  • Two new housing development projects ongoing.
  • Easy connection to a new outdoor sports field project targeting more local baseball, softball and soccer needs and attracting tournament league events.

The property is in Slater’s Urban Renewal Area and TIF (Tax Increment Financing) is an available option in addition to the potential of utilizing other local community development tools for an accepted quality project at the discretion of Mayor and City Council.
